Valve will present early next month OpenGL successor




Valve will start next month during the GDC 2015 a presentation on glNext, the successor to the Khronos OpenGL where organization is working on. The company will include demonstrations of applications running on glNext drivers and hardware.

The website of GDC 2015 has been updated and provides information about the presentation . It shows that except employees of Valve also developers of the Frostbite engine, Epic Games and Unity go on stage. The presentation is’ the emerging cross-platform graphics API designed for modern programming techniques and processors.

Further, the call makes it clear that the technical background of the API revealed will be done. Also there will be techniques and applications will be demonstrated running on glNext drivers and hardware.

Valve is one of the driving forces behind OpenGL, as opposed to Microsoft ‘closed’ DirectX. Valves SteamOS uses the API, which will be completely rewritten with glNext.
