with an application to collect data
Verizon plans to install a spyware application on all its Android operating systems, in a move to collect personal data for users. The company has collaborated with California-based Evie, based in Palo Alto, to provide a new application called AppFlash.

AppFlash is a global search bar that comes preinstalled on the home screen of all Verizon Android phones, which helps find applications and content on the Internet quickly. This comes after the US Senate allows Internet service providers to collect and sell user data to advertisers and advertising companies without permission.

The Google search bar within Android devices collects and sends telemetry data including what the user has searched for, the device used, the applications used and other online activities, while the AppFlash app sends information to Verizon.

The worst thing is that users can not uninstall AppFlash quickly and easily unless they break system protection and have root user privileges. Verizon needs this app to collect user data and sell it to advertisers and other large data companies to earn money.

AppFlash allows the user to search within applications or browse nearby restaurants and entertainment venues, which are available with Google’s built-in search bar, so there are no functions the new search bar can do more than a Google search bar can do.

According to the AppFlash Privacy Policy, the app collects information about the device and the user’s use of the application services. This information includes mobile phone number, device identifiers, operating system, and information about the features and services of the AppFlash used and the operator.

The application can access information about the list of applications in the device and, after obtaining user permission, collects information about the exact location of the device through the operating system as well as the contact information stored within the device.
