Virgin Galactic announces ‘spaceship’ VSS to Unity

Virgin Galactic has announced a new version of its SpaceShipTwo, which the commercial “space flights” will offer. The ship is the successor to an earlier version that crashed in the American desert.

The aerospace company of Richard Branson unveiled the VSS called Unity, a name given by physicist Stephen Hawking to the ship, during a show at the home of Virgin Galactic, the American Mojave Desert.

Virgin Galactic, the VSS Unity made as successor SpaceShipTwo which has made the long flight testing. Two years ago, took this ship the news by a crash which also one of the pilots was killed. Despite this setback, Virgin Galactic pledged to pursue its ambitions to offer commercial space travel.

Since the previous version of the SpaceShipTwo crashed due to an error by the pilots Virgin Galactic has new security mechanisms built into the VSS Unity. The rocket engine has been improved making it more efficient use of fuel. However, all should still be a carrier aircraft, the WhiteKnightTwo be brought into the sky and sees the ship is in appearance the same as its predecessor.

First Virgin Galactic VSS Unity will undergo a series of test flights. Should this go well, the first commercial space travel can be offered. More than 700 people have been $ 250,000, converted approximately 225,000 lodged to reserve a seat. When these flights begin, however, is not yet clear. Virgin Galactic has four years to build the VSS Unity.
