VMWare Workstation logo (75 pix) VMware has released version 15.0.1 of its virtualization software Workstation Pro. With this program it is possible to create one or more virtual computers, on which a large number of different operating systems can be installed. In this way they can be used side by side, as opposed to a dual boat setup, where one or the other OS has to be chosen. This release of VMware Workstation Player addresses the following issue:

VMware Workstation Player has an uninitialized stack memory usage vulnerability in the vmxnet3 virtual network adapter that could allow guest to execute code on the host. The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures project ( cve.mitre.org ) has assigned the identifier CVE-2018-6981 to this issue.
