Volvo showed a car that can park itself

The company Volvo is working on a self-administered vehicle , which will be available later in 2014. Last year, Volvo has successfully completed a test program SARTRE (Safe and environmentally oriented movement in the stream). The following week, Volvo will show a concept car that without the help of the driver will be able to carry out parking.

It should be noted that such a system autopilot develop Tesla and Google. According to Volvo, the new technology will allow drivers to park the car in a safe place near the parking lot, then he will be able to find their own space and make parking. To do this, just run a special application on your phone and send a corresponding signal. After parking the car can carry, the owner is notified to the smartphone, which contains information about the location of the car.

This technology is known as Vehicle Infrastructure 2 and involves the use of special sensors in the road that are designed to inform car owners about the areas where you can drop off passengers and activate the system.

To avoid accidents Volvo cars are endowed with a huge number of different sensors and cameras to the parking into account not only the movement of other vehicles, but also the movement of pedestrians.

It should be noted that the owners do not have to go to where the car was parked, simply using the application on your phone to send the appropriate signal. After that, the car will return to its original location.

Despite the fact that the system is still at an early stage of development, the video below provides ample evidence that the technology works not only on paper and words, but in the real world. It looks quite promising, does not it?

The first production car equipped with self-parking system, the model will be the Volvo XC90, which will be available later in 2014.
