VRT wants to add offline viewing to app for NU video service




The Flemish public broadcaster has released a test version of its VRT NU app for iOS and Android. The app should at a later time get a download function for the productions that the VRT itself makes, so that users can view them offline.

VRT NU app The VRT announced the public test with the app before, but now the application is available . In a faq it says that a download function will be added in the future. This makes it possible for users to look offline at productions on which the VRT owns the rights. When the function comes to the app, it is not yet known.

Furthermore , the page reports that Chromecast support is still missing with the iOS version of the app. That is also planned for later. In addition, composite lists must come to the VRT NU app in the future and users will be given the opportunity to adjust their profile.

Via the VRT NU video service it is possible in Belgium to view the programs of Eén, Canvas and Ketnet. The channels can also be streamed live via the service. The NU platform has been in existence since the beginning of 2017 and until now was only available as a browser version.
