The Flemish radio and television broadcaster, VRT, stops by June 1 to update its teletext pages. Until the end of this year remain the pages available, then the organization pulls the plug permanently.

Teletext page 888 remains available for subtitles, but news and other updates appear from June 1, no longer up to the final decommissioning end of this year, reported the VRT. The money will save the organization, will be devoted to the development of other news, the Flemish broadcaster promises.

That Teletext this year is going to disappear, was in January published by the Media Minister Sven Gatz, but details of the stop were not then. The use of Teletext, Flemings has fallen sharply in recent years, the visit fell from 576 094 in 2010 to 123 709 in 2014. Teletext began in Belgium on May 8, 1980 at the then BRT.

The NOS showed early this year to see no more reason to stop in the Netherlands since the service would be as popular. And showed a measurement in 2014 Teletext attracts 3.5 million visitors a day at the NOS, through TV, app and nos.nl.
