Dropbox has announced updated web version of cloud storage, which allows to open files directly to their associated applications. On the innovations in the service said in an official company blog.
Currently, when you try to view the file in the web version of Dropbox, it is pre-loaded on your computer, then open one of the installed applications. Now it works differently.
With the release of the new version of Dropbox service will not load the file to disk, and directly run the file from a folder on your computer. This is true for both local files, and for the content open to public access.
In Dropbox listed several advantages to this approach. First, the acceleration of the procedure – view files will be faster, because they do not need to download to your computer. Furthermore, when the content editing changes are made directly in the original and not a copy. Third, view files “require fewer clicks.”
The company notes that if someone of your friends would send the link, the user will open it directly from the cloud service and not from a local folder, making it easy to work together.
