Websites NPO are again accessible after DDoS attack – Update

The websites of the Dutch Public Broadcasting are available again on Saturday after a DDoS attack paralyzed the services. The attack eventually took hours, but who is behind it is not yet clear.

During Saturday night came the web services of the NPO back online. However, the attack went on for quite some time, causing varying accessibility. Meanwhile, the websites of public broadcasting seem to be good again accessible.

The attack was not only the websites and applications of the NPO flattened, but also other organizations that fall under the public service, such as NIS and regional broadcasters. Also applications of the NPO were affected by the DDoS attack; NOS reported that not everyone can use its app. Seem not all applications of the NPO to be easily accessible. It is unclear when the problems with the software will be corrected.

Around nine o’clock on Saturday night seem to have the problems arise. The NOS showed via a Twitter message even know that the server issues ‘fellow’ were caused by a DDoS attack. NPO let then know that there was processed a heavy DDoS attack. It is not the first time to the Dutch Public Broadcasting with a ddos; so was there in October, another attack place. About those responsible is not, incidentally disclosed.

Update 13:40: The NPO has let out in a reaction to the NIS that it was the hardest DDoS attack ever. It looks at measures to the consequences at a next time limits.
