Western Digital Introduces 314GB-HDD for Raspberry Pi

Western Digital has announced a hard drive for the Raspberry Pi. The PiDrive has 314GB of storage and is based on the HDD’s from the WD Blue series. The disc normally costs 49.99 euros, but temporarily to 34.28 euros.

The PiDrive is a 7mm HDD which allows users to connect to the Raspberry Pi via USB. According to WD developed the hard drive to be more efficient with the Raspberry Pi than an ordinary hard drive. The manufacturer has previously made a number of unknown changes to ensure that the PiDrive requires less power than other WD drives. The HDD fits into the Pi Enclosures which the company has released.

The PiDrive works with the Raspberry Pi Model B + 2 Model B, and P 3. On the Western Digital website is a special version of Berry Boat download , including a number of applications that are specifically designed for the hard disk. WD sold a 1TB version of the PiDrive. The cable sets that go with them also work with the new 314GB version. The disk is among others available in Belgium, but does not seem to come out in the Netherlands.
