What to see in Kiev?

Kiev – is not just a big city, but also the capital of Ukraine. Sights of this city attract, surprise and memorable stay. Sufficient to take the monuments and all kinds of construction, and because each has its own little story …

For example, a house with chimeras, which is located on the street Bankova. It got its name from the various sculptures that decorate the building and the outside and inside. This figure of existing ground and underwater, as well as various fairy-tale characters. The house was built in 1901-1903 by architect Vladislav Gorodetsky, the modern style. In the past, it was possible to look inside the ordinary people, but now it is used as the residence of the President of Ukraine.

With this construction involves a lot of myths and legends that walk among the people of Kiev. One of them says that the house was built in honor of Vladimir Gorodetsky his daughter, who committed suicide because of unrequited love. The second legend says that the house was built on a dare. There is also a legend that Gorodetsky put on the house and the curse of all who will live in it, but his descendants will be unhappy.

And nearby is a small sculpture of a girl, cuddle ears of wheat. This fragile little girl symbolizes the little children who have died of starvation.

We can not say about the famous monument to the founders of Kiev. Nestor the Chronicler wrote about them in his “Tale of Bygone Years”: “And there were three brothers, one on behalf of the cue, the other – Cheeks and third – Horeb, and their sister – Lybid. For hiking enthusiasts to museums in Kiev recommend visiting Bulgakov Museum (Andrew’s Descent). Moreover, the building chosen for the museum, and is the house where the famous writer lived with his family from 1906 to 1919.
