WhatsApp under Android new Emojis subtleties

WhatsApp under Android with new Emojis and other subtleties WhatsApp has received a few small and major innovations under Android. The most important feature is probably the new 72 Emojis. They originate from Unicode-9 – we had already blogged for the presentation in general in June 2016. Now WhatsApp has practically adapted the Emojis. I can already use it in version 2.17.44. In the app, the Emojis look a little different than the Unicode characters. For example, from the kebab in Fladenbrot in WhatsApp a Dürum Doner. Probably one wanted to avoid the optical similarity to the Taco.

An overview of the Emojis introduced in Unicode-9 can be obtained in tabular form with all previous versions here . In addition to the kebab, you can also use a facepalm emoji, roasted bacon, a bat, a baguette, a smiley face with a cowboy hat, a glass of whiskey and a sliced kiwi.

Also new with some users: As of the WhatsApp version 2.17.44, there should be a shortcut for Videochats at the top of the bar to the left of the handset. This seems to be unlocked on the server side, because I do not see it yet. However, a screenshot of WhatsAppBetaInfo uses it.

A shortcut is also to be found at the bottom of the bar for answers, with the wrong icon on the screenshot. As I said, I see this feature but not yet, despite the appropriate app version.

In addition, WhatsApp from the beta 2.17.46 for Android in the data traffic should also include the status. Both your own status updates as well as your friends’ data volume, you can then follow transparently. That there will not be a lot of data, many users change their status only every few months or enter nothing, is clear. But one or the other may also appreciate this aspect.
