Wi-Fi Alliance Announces iBeacon-like technology Wi-Fi Aware of




The Wi-Fi Alliance announced a WiFi-based technology called Wi-Fi Aware. The location-based technology users may share content with people who are nearby and can send shopping deals to customers.

This Wi-Fi Aware resembles the Beacon technology that Apple earlier in its stores unrolled . The technique, which is based on Wi-Fi, which makes use of the user’s location: for example, if a retail store detects that a user is in the neighborhood, for example, can be sent on sale to the smartphone of that person.

According to the Wi-Fi Alliance, the technology has developed, is also targeted at social applications.
