Windows 10 April 2018 Update in record time approved for full release

Microsoft has made the last major Windows 10 update, version 1803, “fully available.” Business users get the update last to maintain maximum stability. Never before has Microsoft released a W10 update to corporate users so soon after release.

Microsoft says that thanks to the help of an ai machine learning model, it was easier to identify which Windows 10 installations were successful and which were not. The introduction of the April 2018 update would have gone so well, that is, with such few rollbacks , de-installations, stability problems and negative user feedback, that the latest update is ready for the business market. That process lasted 45 days. This would make the update the fastest to be fully promoted among users. At the Fall Creators Update, for example, this process lasted twice as long as the April 2018 Update.

Important to include in the consideration is that this update has been postponed and therefore did not meet its initially scheduled release date. The update came out 20 days later than was initially expected. When those 20 days are included in the calculation, the propagation of the April 2018 Update is still the fastest so far. At the same time there are also critics who claim that the update is far from stable enough for business users. Microsoft considers the roll-out ‘fast and safe’.

According to Microsoft, Windows 10 now has some 700 million active users, of which more than 250 million are on version 1803. This last step means that the April 2018 Update will be pushed to the remaining 450 million users. Users who have not yet received a message from Windows Update about the April 2018 Update, can now expect this at any time. Tweakers has also made a review of the new features in this update.
