‘Windows let insiders choose browser again for opening Mail links’

According to information from an Italian site, Windows shows in a new Redstone 5-build Insider again whether they want to open links from the Mail app with Edge or with another browser. In an earlier Insider build that was only Edge.

The information comes from the Italian site Aggiornamenti Lumia , which publishes images of a new toggle . It is unclear where the site has these images. The slider, which is present in the settings of the Windows Mail app, lets users choose not to open links in Edge by default. The default setting is to do that. Presumably, Mail chooses the browser that the user has set as default when the function is turned off. Furthermore, Mail would get a slightly changed look in a new Insider build.

Microsoft announced in March that links from Mail would only be available in Edge in build 17623 of Redstone 5. It said then that it wanted to offer users ‘the best and safest experience’. According to the Italian site, however, the campaign also generated criticism from Insiders. Whether the adjustment is a direct consequence of this is not clear.
