If we reactions a message about a game like Verdun may believe, there is much interest in ‘old WWII shooter’, a shooter that’s just some noise, no weird weapons and hundreds of options. For anyone who cherishes that sentiment, look no further. The solution has just appeared on the market in the form of Wolfenstein: The Old Blood. No full game, but a standalone expansion to last year’s Wolfenstein: The New Order. The New Order You have no need to play The Old Blood. But if you keep old shooters and the game last year have not played, we could recommend.

It is not necessary in itself to The New Order have played, but it’s a nice intro. Though: in fact it is the other. The Swedish developer Machine Games for The New Order had chosen a surprisingly futuristic setting. That game is set in the 60s of the last century, well after the end of World War II. Wolfenstein Review: The Old Blood

Back in time

The Old Blood we see what preceded it, so what happened in the run-up to the New Order. You get again presented an alternative reality, but while we go back in time. The Old Blood is 1946 and the battle between Nazis and allies in danger of being permanently in favor of Hitler decided. The allies can only reverse the tide as they managed to find the location of the residence of General Wilhelm Strasse, known as General Deathshead. In the lab of Deathshead modern weapons and super soldiers are developed that give the Nazis the upper hand in battle. If this lab can be disabled, the Allies have another chance. And of course BJ necessary to ensure this.

Machine Games sends BJ behind enemy lines. He must try to penetrate the secret bases of the Nazis, invariably hidden in classic medieval castles, such as high on a mountain slot that gave the name to the series. Also in beautifully designed cities like Paderborn and Wulfburg find the necessary old – or very newfangled – fortifications teeming opponents.
