Apple would like to take a music service back on. The company would negotiate an acquisition of Tidal, a streaming service of rapper Jay Z which has the support of many artists since Tidal revenue would divide fairly.

Apple could have put his sights on Tidal to improve its own service Apple Music. The negotiations are still in progress and it is not certain that this indeed result in a takeover, writes the Wall Street Journal, which has good sources inside Apple. Tidal spokesmen deny the newspaper that talks with Apple.

Tidal is originally a Swedish music service which was acquired in March 2015 by rapper Jay Z. They gave 19 artists participating in the company, including Kanye West, Madonna, Rihanna, Usher and Beyonce. Jay Z promised that his ministry would pay artists better than competing services.

Tidal attempts to further distinguish itself with exclusive albums by artists. The service has 4.2 million paying subscribers. Spotify has 30 million paying users, Apple Music 15 million.
