Xiaomi brings Android 6.0 for Mi 3, Mi 4 and Mi Note

The Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi has a firmware with Android 6.0 released for its Mi Note, Mi 4 and 2.5 years old Mi 3. That is the extent known, the oldest device will receive an update from the manufacturer to Android Marshmallow.

The devices have a firmware-based Xiaomi’s own Android skin Miui with version 6.3.17. Mi Mi 4i and 4c, both in name variants of the Mi 4, still sitting on Android Lollipop. It is a test version. When the stable version will be released, is still unknown.

With the update to Android 6.0 is the Mi 3, which came out in late 2013 just before the Nexus 5, the oldest known device that the manufacturer still supports an update to a new version of Android. Most manufacturers use a period of one and a half to two years for updates.

The Mi 4 has besides an Android 6.0 firmware for some time a firmware based on Windows Mobile 10. Xiaomi released this month its latest high-end smartphone, the Mi 5 , which runs natively on Android 6.0.
