Those specifications of this smartphone are promising. I wonder how well this smartphone is in practice. Though the design called not so brilliant.

Not brilliant because? I’m not a fan of Android, but the design of the phone speaking to me just that. Nice and clean, just a bit too: the camera button is missing. And mis.je.heel.erg if you’re used to.

You can on Android (and I thought with iOS) just use the volume buttons as camera button. So sin to write off almost all smartphones that lack that extra button 😉

I think indeed it just a very nice sleek design!

A dedicated camera button yet I find slightly finer, you can then focus by pressing it halfway. No camera button and you can not use the volume keys to zoom. But no offense: Use the volume buttons as camera button is better than just using the screen. 🙂

About software or you do not have to worry. Miui Android Shell Xiaomi is just very stable and will certainly not lay know. Thereby rolling updates almost weekly.

Shame about the lack of a micro USB SD slot.
For the rest, it seems to me a very attractive android device for that price.

There’s weldegelijk USB, but no micro SD slot if you meant : P .

A smart move by xiaomi to make a cheaper midrange lineup. For the high end m4 is still pretty pricey.
Looks like a nice successor to my current Mi2s (works that are still as good as new with android 5.0, etc.)

Indeed, this strikes a nice bridge between the two redmi (just too low speccs) and 4 ml / note pro (relatively overspecced / expensive). pity there is no NFC is in?

If you want a slightly larger screen (5.5 inch), then Meizu Note M1 Jiayu S3 fine alternatives. Available for about 199 usd or less, shipping included.

If you have a 5-inch Full HD want phone, the ZTE Z9 mini is also an alternative. This does have a microSD card slot alongside dual sim oppportunity. Also a 16MP rear camera with a sensor size of 1 / 2.6 “made by Sony.

And no standard play store, for many people it difficult.

Maybe on the ZTE Z9 mini yet, because only officially a few weeks on the market (in the near future though). When Meizu discs M1 and Jiayu S3 is the standard set by the seller usually if that was not already present. This will also be the case for the mini ZTE Z9.

I myself have a Jiayu S3 which has no standard play store to install it is really a piece of cake just follow this video and install the attached apk …

If the layout of app now was still in English then it was all a piece of cake.
I also had the international flash ROM can, but I do not like the risks that entails.

I also have a Jiayu S3, the international version, entered without Chinese junk, with all Google apps on it. Truly a top gear, with very good GPS coverage, quick fix, good Wifi, and a really good processor (yes … a Mediatek! : + ) Only downside is the relatively small battery. Normal use is good for a full day, but go no games on there.

In many dualsim Phones Today the second simslot functions as SD card slot. Perhaps in this case too.

Go there but not, otherwise they have told during the press conference. You also see that not return to the official website of Xiaomi.

For that price these specs and hopefully familiar finish Xaomi and some custom ROMs that they usually have available I think this is a steal at this price. not as my primary device because I still opt for a high end device but certainly secondary. And for people who want it will be an affordable solution not too expensive solid unit. Bit of a wrong comparison, but it can have the OnePlus One effect that price class as they can create a lot of media attention.

I find the phone quite well, despite the body. I would do for the black or white go in such a case. I find it funny that the two different colored LED flashes are visible, then the color difference : P That the flashes are visible is logical .. otherwise you have nothing. : +

In the Netherlands need a phone with similar specs do not cost much more.

Pricewatch: Archos 50 Diamond Black

Expect Archos no software updates.
Xiaomi bid so far at least 2 years software updates on its phones.

As Oerbrood indicates, the phone is not for this price to get in NL, but the corpse me do a nice thing to feel for € 250-300 euros in the Netherlands to the tooth.

With regard to 4G. This phone supports FDD-LTE in the 1800Mhz network (suitable for eg T-Mobile).

May be of interest in that price range here in the market. Only then he is in the same price range as the Xperia m4 aqua, which has the same specs in outline.
Pros and cons of both devices:

Xiaomi mi4i:
+ Higher resolution screen
+ Dual-tone flash
+ Dual sim
-No Micro sd slot

Sony xperia m4 aqua:
+ Availability in NL
+ Support networks EN
+ Guarantee in NL
+ Waterproof, dustproof
+ Micro-sdxc lock
-720p 5 “, although weather is kind to the battery
-smaller battery

However, I have already had a firmware update in on my Archos 50 Diamond. However, nowhere to find a changelog so I do not know what they have changed. Archos has also been confirmed that there is an update coming to Android 5.x, only we do not know when.

But arChOs no xiaomi, specs are not everything .. (specs arChOs are often fine, the price but also the quality is the problem ..)

And that’s when Xiaomi no different. In this class, just down the price.

@ Aval0ne • April 23, 2015 17:45
Xiaomi certainly offers robust software support (my xiaomi mi2s is android 4.1 updated to 5.0.2 and still gets updates is already more than 2 years on the market. In arChOs I expect brackish hardware and software which will not receive updates . In xiaomi hardware is just decent for a good price. Archos is more a kind of Sweex zn hardware ..

Probably not no by Dutch webshops. But the difference in the Mi4 (the more expensive sibling of this) is the difference between gray imports and Dutch webshops too soon 75-100 euros.
0 Jvann
April 23, 2015 18:09
The import price would be some decades (3) are higher.
I myself have a Jiayu S3 and that seems to me to be a better choice because of the …
– Increased amount of memory (3GB), I just can not live without
– Faster CPU, but I can understand if some people prefer Snapdragon want
– Nicer design and 5.5 “what works nice (personal course)
– Removable battery and SD card slot (For me the decisive giver, I hate it when there is no SD card in a phone can, removable battery is nice if the capacity deteriorated later)

Although MI 4i is still a very just phone for its price, especially the battery and the screen seems interesting, hopefully they have jacked up the brightness because it was at the MI4 to cry.

Wow, lucky the Indians with such a phone of such specifications for such a converted price. Design is also very into me, just the camera reminds me very much of the design of the iPhone.

Nice mid range phone for and nice price.
Can imagine that these sell like hot cakes there in India.
They have now seen it three categories coarse product lines
The MI / Note / Pro line as hi end
The Redmi / Note / Pro line as entry.
The Mi i models like mid range.

India can not yet ordered the Mi Note. After more than half a year the Mi band is finally available only through the official channels.
The Redmi 2 can they also do not order (to my knowledge).
