Yahoo! messenger MessageMe bought for $ 12 million




Yahoo! acquired mobile messenger MessageMe for $ 11.9 million. Reported Saturday TechCrunch. Application developers in full will go to Yahoo !, the service itself will be closed on 7 November.


Messenger MessageMe, available on both iOS and Android, was launched in 2013, and in May of this year the number of users reached 5 million. The company’s founders Arjun Networks and Justin Rosenthal were previously employed in the creation of games for social networks, the Web, in particular, has created a company LOLApps, later was a part of the publisher 6Waves. In 2013, the company was able to raise $ 10 million investment.

Users will be able to use the application MessageMe until November 7. Then, all data will be deleted, and the project team will go to work at Yahoo!

Since the appointment of Marissa Mayer as CEO of the company in 2012, Yahoo! acquired more than 20 different companies and services. Most of the deals were not large, except for the purchase of blogging platform Tumblr, which Yahoo! bought for $ 1.1 billion. Under the deal, Tumblr continues to function as a separate company from Yahoo!.


Yahoo! has founded in 1994. It has a search engine and provides a wide range of Internet services used by about 500 million users.
