Zerodium will pay 2 million dollars for hacking iOS

The company Zerodium, specializing in security and the search for vulnerabilities, announced its readiness to pay about $ 2 million for hacking the operating system iOS 12. And we are not talking about a simple password bypass. The company is ready to part with an impressive amount only if it presents a working method that will allow remote access to the file system of the necessary device.

Zerodium is known in the market as a major vulnerability broker. The company began its operations in 2015, and its scheme of work is based on redeeming vulnerabilities from hackers at a relatively “low” price, and then reselling them at a higher cost to private and public organizations, including security agencies.

Apple’s mobile operating system is famous for its high security and inaccessibility, which is why it is ready to pay up to $ 2 million for a complete remote hacking of the operating system. The main condition is that hacking should occur without any involvement of the victim. That is, everything should happen automatically – without downloading programs or following links. If, on the part of the user, minimal actions are required, such an exploit can be estimated at $ 1.5 million.

Remarkably, the pricing for vulnerabilities has doubled since last year. Especially strongly increased payments for bypassing passwords in iOS and Android . Previously, the cost of such a gap was “only” 15 thousand dollars, now – all 100.

However, this is not surprising – the security of modern operating systems and programs is improving every day, and finding weaknesses in them is becoming increasingly difficult.
