Dell unveiled a new line of G-Series laptops at the CES 2023 event. These new models are considered a revamp of the series because they have previously been in the shadow of Dell’s Alienware division.
The reason behind that is that the G-Series usually is aimed towards an audience that typically uses laptops for work, and only a mild amount of gaming was possible on those devices.
As soon as the reveal took place, Dell received praise for their attractive designs, budget-friendly prices, and specifications. These laptops are geared towards gamers and offer a range of features that make them suitable for gaming, such as decent graphics cards and high-performance processors.

The designs
Although there’s a lot to unpack here, most of the attention seems to be toward the design, which has a synthwave feel.
Instead of smooth edges, there is a bit of a blockiness present, giving it a unique feel you don’t usually see in budget machines. Then we have the way the ports are arranged, which is very convenient.
These laptops come with an HDMI 2.1 in the back and on the sides, like ethernet, a 3.5mm jack, and two USB 3.2 Type-A ports – which are pretty standard things lately. I love that even the heatsinks have a tilted shape, which fits the entire aesthetic.

The prices
The G15 starts at an attractive price of $849 and comes with a 13th-gen Intel Core-i5 13450HX CPU, 8GB DDR5 RAM, and a 120Hz FHD display. But this budget aspect is optional as you can get an Nvidia RTX 4000 series GPU added to the laptop, with a better screen and larger SSDs. Thus, it’s entirely up to the consumer.
The G16 starts at $1499 USD with the same processor and RAM, but the screen is 165Hz and 2560×1600 in resolution this time around. What comes next is up to you, as you can increase the RAM, the display, and a few other things. Even the battery is upgradeable, which is great for those who need it.
So, even though these laptops are good budget options – they can quickly exit that spectrum if the buyer wishes. Laptops have never been about budget gaming, and that’s not about to change now.
And it does not help that the default storage is too low to store most modern games – so you’ll be going over the lowest starting point either way.

But when you consider how a high-end gaming laptop can end up costing you thousands of dollars – the G15 and G16 are reasonable options from Dell that guarantee durability and an excellent design that you’d love to show off.
The models unveiled so far were not given for proper review at the event, so a deeper analysis is not yet possible – especially in terms of how customizable the RGB backlit keyboard is or how well the games run without an RTX 4000 GPU.
But regardless, it’s an impressive set of machines that consumers and critics look forward to. If these laptops turn out to be a great option, gamers who prefer Dell machines will finally have a good option that does not come from their Alienware division.
As for when you can expect the laptop to come out, they will be released within the first few months of this year – which is excellent news.
